Since our first run of Light-Weight-Pants (LWPs) we have been tinkering with design and features that we thought that would be useful and found out later didn’t really help. So for the LWPs 2.0 we are looking to make a few changes.
Materiel.
We love the capabilities of a blended fiber material. The mobility gained is awesome which is why we originally used a nylon/spandex blend. However, the difference in the length and thickness of the fibers meant that the material wasn’t going to be as durable as we originally wanted the pants to be. So for the 2.0 we are going with a 100% polyester material that is put together in such a way that we still get the light weight, breathable, moisture wicking, features of the pants that still maintain the stretch that we all want and love. By using all one fiber type the pants by nature will be more resistant to wear and tear and will last longer.
Removals.
We also found that some features of the original LWPs that were good ideas at the time aren’t exactly achieving what we were looking for. First is the back pockets. We are going to be removing the partition in the back pockets. Most people still carry their wallet in the back pocket and with the partition it prevents the wallet from being able to move off to the side of the hip when sitting down. This results in the wallet being forced to pop out of the pocket as you sit down which is less than ideal so we will be removing the partition in the back pocket to prevent this issue.
We also found that the snaps for the bottom of the pants which were originally to allow you to roll your pants up and hold them up were not as durable as we had hoped they would be. The snaps tended to break off and or fail to hold the pant cuff up when in heavy use. So, we are also removing them from the design.
Design Changes
The waist button. All though the button was the same as many jeans out there we are not a huge fan with how it performed, the metal riveted button protruded out a little bit further than we wanted and it didn’t allow for a level of field repair that we had learned to love during our years of military service. So we are updating the button to the old faithful sewn on, Melamine button.
We are also reducing the amount of sewing so there will be no stitch across the thigh above the knee this will allow for a slicker smoother look to the pants allowing them to blend in a bit better in more places.
Timeline
as of today (13 May 2025) we are currently awaiting samples from the preproduction run, when they are cleared for fitment and any alterations needed are addressed and corrected we will go into production. If we have minimal issues the earliest we could see them available in-stock is near the end of this year. However things rarely go as planed and are always subject to change and the official release date will not be announced until we have products on the shelf ready to go.
In all of this our focus is and will always be to design and produce products specifically to help you draw less attention to yourself as the “Tacti-cool” guy and yet also provide you with the capability to protect and defend yourself and those around you. The greatest task any of us were put on this earth is to love and serve one another as we serve the Lord.
Do you think we are missing anything? What are some features that you would like to see added or changed as we move forward. We can’t think of everything and we value your unique perspective and experiences
The Lords humble servant
